Danone , PLEASE can I request that you proofread your posts and alter them to make them more easily readable to other posters?

Try imagining that you know nothing about these people and that you have no connection with them; then read your post and see if you can see how difficult it is to follow it --

I, and I'm sure I can safely say that lots of other RCers, are happy to help but we need to wade through things first and if they are not easy to wade through, it puts us off helping! As it is, at first glance I can't see any of the info that I think you're giving us on the censuses - but it is so difficult to follow that I may well be looking for entirely the wrong people. And that first glance needs to grab us for us to then follow any leads.

OK. Trying to decipher this because I have a bit of time on my hands.

1891 census ; 126 Mountsorrel Rd, Quorndon

John  Sketchley  Head   m   age 46   stone driller  b Quorndon
Emma wife    m   age 52   b Markfield
Mary A daughter    s   age 23   cotton winder    b Quorndon
Emma   daughter    s    age 18     ditto                  ditto

and this is probably the marriage, from freeBMD
Marriages Mar 1865   (>99%)
Morris    Emma        Barrow    7a   181
Sketchley    John         Barrow    7a   181

In 1881, the younger Emma Sketchley is in Quorndon with Joseph and Mary Fletcher and their children; she is described as their granddaughter. In 1871, the Sketchley family is in Quorndon with no sign of a Cooper family in the same house or next door.

So I can't see from this bit where you are linking the Cooper and Sketchley families.

This is my guess?

Sibby Cooper is a proffesional boxer 1920 -1930s from Markfield,  Leicestershire

His real name is Sidney Cooper
His mothers name is Lillian Cooper

His sisters name is Emma Sketchly (nee Cooper?)
Emma was married to James (Sketchly?)
Emma Sketchley lived at 11 Ashby road Markfield,  Leicestershire

so where on earth would the 1871 census fit into that -- he would have been getting a bit long in the tooth to be boxing in the 1920s-30s if he was 48 in 1871!  ;D

Danone - this really exemplifies what I mean -- if your posts aren't clear (and I'm sorry to say that they're not, not even a little bit), we can't search and help!

Hi Annie
Mum has even told me Sibby was some thing to her after I found him on a pre war boxing site with all his records and who he fought and when
I took a walk up the village one week and spoke to some one who knew Sibby he said yes he would have been your grandfathers nephew as their family lived next door and they did come from woodhouse eves leicestershire but didn't know much about the skechley side I think the Emma was the wife of Sibby father I did find she worked in a big house in Newtown linford all the work came from the Quordon alpha census I tryed to piece it together from what I had .this chap told me that Sibby was a farmer when he came from the war and moved to Copt oak cottages .he said if he didn't like you he wouldn't speak to you .i would love some to come and help me piece this for as I'm doing it alone
Thanks
