People are happy to help but as I said above, you need to make your posts much clearer to access that help.

some questions

PLEASE ANSWER THESE IN AS FEW WORDS AS POSSIBLE (ie no long sentences full of conflicting information!)

When do think Sibby was born?

Is your grandfather Ernest b 1907?

What is the "Quorndon alpha census"?

If Sibby was your grandfather's nephew, that means that his father or mother was your grandfather's brother or sister. That means that Sibby would be younger than your grandfather. Yet you keep talking about him being in the 1871 census. This doesn't make any sense at all.

I will try to help if I can understand your answer but I'm afraid that like everyone else, i have enough on trying to solve puzzles without having to try to solve the puzzle request!

Please make your answers short and factual. Actual dates. Full names. Fullstops -- if you struggle with those, put the different names and dates on different lines so we can see how they separate out. Internet links if available. No bumf about who might have said what to whom on which road sometime in an unspecified century.

I'm sorry if this sounds rude or harsh but if you want help, you have to try to phrase your requests so people can understand them.

Hi Danone  :)

There are lots of queries you have requested re this family on rootschat and on other forum's, some of which you have already been given details on, it sometimes feels we are covering the same ground... :-\

I have just tried to cover the Sibby Cooper issue, as the thread is already confused........

Abraham Cooper -  born about 1841 in Markfield, (son of Charles Cooper & Elizabeth Geary)

1st marriage in 1864 = Elizabeth BOUTON/BOUGHTON - they had one son Henry - Elizabeth died in 1871, buried Markfield 11th October.

2nd marriage in 1872 = Mary Ann BROOKS

Abraham died in a Quarry explosion and was buried in Markfield  18th Feb 1876

Abraham & Mary Ann had two sons - James born 1873 and Joseph born 1875

JOSEPH COOPER married Mary Ellen MASSEY in 1896 and is your line.

JAMES COOPER married Emily MARLOW in 1896 - it is possibly their son JOHN SIDNEY COOPER born JuneQ 1905 who was the Boxer. I can only guess Sibby was a petname/nickname.

If this is Sibby, then he would be the cousin of your granddad Ernest Cooper ?

Probate
John Sidney Cooper died 16th May 1975 - Will proved 1st July 1975
1, Church Terrace, Whitwick Rd, Copt Oak, Leics

His death registration - Q2 1975 Leicester Central = birth date: 11th March 1905

Danone, we are ALL working on our own. NO harm in asking for help. No probs with that.

The problem is with the info you give us - can't help because it doesn't make sense.

I asked you a couple of questions and you haven't answered them. I'm not going to try to look for a needle when you haven't even pointed out which haystack ---

James Sibley, 48, in 1871 census, appears to be called Thomas in 1861, birthplace remains Woburn.

Possibly this marriage:
Marriages June quarter 1852
Mary Holwell        Barrow On Soar    7a   267
James Sibley        Barrow upon Soar    7a   267
