Found him I think in 1851 - His son's Patrick birth in 1857 lists his as a slater living in Deanston.  Family living in Deanston Perthshire in 1851 within the parish of Kilmadock

Place of birth of both parents e.g. Derry, Ireland (rather than just Ireland), both parents age at time of 1855 birth, date & place of marriage, no. of children borne (states how many still living if any are deceased) great if previous kids were born but not christened or died prior to being on a census  ;D

Is there an official record of William's death in Victoria?  The position of his burial in Old Ballarat cemetery appears to be unknown, but perhaps they recorded some other details.
