GAMBLE(S), GAMEWELL(S) and other variants
« on: Saturday 21 March 15 00:45 GMT (UK) »
I am searching for the family of my ancestor Elizabeth GAMEWELLS who married in Sheffield, Yorkshire in 1834, she used the same spelling when registering a child's birth in 1837. I've been unable to find any family by that name in the area but found George GAMBLE and Ruth STONES whose 11 children (born in Rotherham and Sheffield) were baptised as GAMBLE(S), GAMWELL, GRAMWELL and GAMEWELL. There is no baptism for an Elizabeth although there is a suspicious 6 year gap around the time she was born in c1801. Has anyone has come across other GAMBLE families using similar variants?
