McCrickerd?Crickard
« on: Saturday 21 March 15 16:49 GMT (UK) »
I'm searching for Hugh McCrickerd/Crickard father of Thomas Crickerd born circa 1853 in Ireland according to censuses taken in Workington, Cumberland later in Thomas's life. I know this is a long shot but I've been looking for several years without luck. Unfortunately the name varies from census to census McCrickerd/Crickett/ Crickard. Any info. gratefully received.

Hi,
The Ulster Historical Foundation website shows a Thomas Crickard, father Hugh, born in 1848 in Co. Down. See http://www.ancestryireland.com/search-irish-genealogy-databases/
It is a pay to view site to get more information.

Most of the Crickards in 1901 seem to be in Co. Down. Have you tried looking here (lots of Hugh Crickards)?

Hello I think I have a piece to your puzzle... Tom Crickerd b 1847/1852 came from Ireland ended up in Workington married Sarah Harris. Had children Tom,Johnny,Hugh and Alice Ann(twins). Your right the name has changed. Tom from Ireland was my Granda's(still with us) Great Granda and his Granda was Tom Hugh was his brother. He cant remember the twins but Im also trying to trace them and the other Crickerds/McCrickerds going back over to Ireland. Have you discovered any more info in your search? We have been told their is many in County Down :-)
