Hi EH Chic & thank you very much for your response. Are your directions for the 1891 or 1901 census?

I've located 1881 & 1891 since my original post.  I still desperately want the 1901 census.

I tried to follow your steps for 1901 but was unsuccessful. I would be most appreciative if you can send a link to the 1901 document you've located  - either to the census lists in Library & Archives Canada or on Ancestry.

Thank you once again for your response.  :)

Sorry, I didn't make that clear ... I was referring to the 1891 census, not the 1901.  I'm afraid I didn't access the information online, but at the BC Archives.  The reference for the 1891 census is: GR-0288, Reel B-7040.  I know that they can copy them for you for a fee, but am not sure how much it costs.

If I happen to look at the 1901 census, I will let you know where the information can be found there as well.

Thank you for the follow-up.  :)

I sincerely hope the 1901 data appears at some point.

Have a great weekend.

About the film that the West Coast Indian Agency 1901 census info posted earlier (reply#2) is from. I was wondering if you tried inputting other agencies the way sami did for the West Coast Agency? In case not, or it didn't work....

You have probably seen this info but posting a link to help me here with my suggestion.

https://royalbcmuseum.bc.ca/sites/default/files/sites/default/files/images/census1901guide200705.pdf

According to the link above, all the agencies should be on the same film. I was wondering about the possibilty of you obtaining either a BC Archives or LAC copy into your local library through the inter-library loan service so you can look at the entire film yourself?

These films are under Schedule 2 and may not have been transcribed....the general population info is found in Scedule 1 documents.

Thank you very much for that link PolarBear. The answer I've been seeking is in the text on page 2. I've read that document before & never noticed it.

"The following Indian Agency schedules did not survive and were possibly lost by Statistics Canada before being microfilmed: Kamloops-Okanagan, Northwest Coast, and Williams Lake agencies."

The Queen Charlotte Islands or, as they are now known: Haida Gwaii, would have been Northwest Coast. It's not the answer I wanted :'(, but I can now quit looking for the 1901 census for that region.

Thanks again.
