The records I have access to online only start in 1750 so can't help with the first one.

Re. the second - is really just a snippet and simply says:

'Last Friday died in London, Mr. Richard Hawkins, a Merchant at Lynn.'

That's it!

Hi Annette
Thanks very much anyway!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to find out more about that death??

The only match I have found so far is a burial on 26 June 1765 in Bermondsey Surrey (under the Southwark parish) for a Richard Hawkins. It says he was 76 years old and from 'the wall'. No mention of him being from Lynn.

Are there any other likely burials anyone else can find- or anything more about this one in Bermondsey?
Thanks!

THanks very much Amondg
I wonder what Mary Browne's connection to Richard was...perhaps she was his sister? Or a relation of his wife Mary Abel??

Do you take this article to mean only she is bankrupt? Or that she is deceased?? Just thinking perhaps a will would shed more light on her connection to Richard....since there doesn't appear to be a will for Richard himself.

I wonder when Mary Browne merchant of Lynn died. Will have a look for a will/death.

Thanks again
Kylie

I take it to mean she is bankrupt.
If she was widowed in her 40's she may have remarried.
