Frimley Lodge, Frimley, Surrey COMPLETED
« on: Monday 23 March 15 16:55 GMT (UK) »
Frimley Lodge was the home address of an ancestor who died in 1899. Can't find any record of the building .. does it still exist? Description or old photograph would be v. welcome.

including:

'Formerly (OS 1888, 1934) the drive entered 250m south of the mansion, where the roundabout joining the B3411 and Portsmouth Road now (2000) lies, the entrance having been marked by a lodge on the east side. The entrance was moved and the lodge demolished in the mid C20 when the roundabout was constructed.'

You are very welcome

It's worth ploughing through the entries (11 of them) for "Frimley Lodge" in the SHC catalogue.  I was intrigued to see it was licensed under the Act for Regulating Madhouses 1774

QS5/5/ is the SHC reference for that particular  bundle

OK, I know that this topic has been closed, but I thought that this might help. On an OS map published in 1872, there are two lodges shown in Frimley. The one north of the village centre is obviously the lodge referred to in an earlier reply, being the lodge that was demolished for the construction of a roundabout. The other is labelled "Frimley Lodge" and was located in the village centre, opposite the Post Office and the White Hart PH.
The map can be found at the National Library of Scotland:-  http://maps.nls.uk/view/102347451
Frimley is slightly right of centre.
Marchant, Grout, Worsfold, Woolgar all from Surrey.
Marchant in New Zealand.
