Trying to find a death for Robert Calvert, born 1857, we think Co.Down......in 1901, and again in 1911 he is living at Upper Meadow Street, Dock Ward, Belfast.....he married Ellen Jane Maynes.....we think that he was a printer, or compositor by trade.......any help appreciated.......Del.

Hi Del.
Seems like there are 2 possibilities, if he died in N.I.
12 July 1927 aged 70, Registered in Newtownards or 19 April 1958, in Belfast aged 102!
I assume you have his marriage to Ellen Mayers on 2 Feb 1880 in Belfast. Also the 1901 and 1911 census showing their 10 children.
It will cost you £2 to view each of the death certs on GRONI website. if you think they may be your man.

Fadge, Thanks for that, I suppose either of them could be him.....we believe that  some of his children went to Canada, one son William married there in 1917, but don't believe that Robert himself left Belfast, we know that his brother Andrew died in Scotland in 1903, as the result of an accident at work.........Thanks again.......... Hi Del.
Maybe 12 July 1927 is the one! Found his burial in Belfast City Cemetery on 14 July. Place of death BayView House, Ballyhalbert, Co Down.
In the same grave is Ellen Jane Calvert, 74, died 11 April 1935 buried 13th April. Place of death 218 Spamount Street, Belfast. There are 2 other males also in the grave!
Ellen Jane was the householder of 218 Spamount Street in 1932 Belfast street directory.
In 1918 BSD there is a R. Calvert and Sons, printers at 3a Frederick Street, Belfast. This may have been Robert's  printing business.
Cant figure out Bayview House in Ballyhalbert though, except there was a burial of a John Wm Davis from the House around 1950.
Hope this is helpful to prove or disprove your family connection.
Fadge

Fadge, Thank you very much, that has to be them.....so he had his own printing business....fascinating.....been looking for his death for quite a while now.......I wonder if Bayview House was a nursing home, or retirement home of some kind ?.......are there any indications as to the names of the other two males buried with Robert and Ellen Jane ?...........Thanks again........Del.

Here's the link, just "View details" for each individual occupant:

https://ssl.belfastcity.gov.uk/burialsearch/BurialSearch.aspx?GraveSection=M1&GraveNumber=338&CemeteryName=City%20Cemetery

The PRONI website has the following Will Calendar index entry:

Calvert Robert of Bayview House Shore Road Ballyhalbert county Down retired printer died 12 July 1927 Probate Belfast 12 December to reverend Samuel Stevenson presbyterian minister. Effects £40.

Just realised there is a snag. You say a son William married in Canada in 1917- but there is no son William in the 1911 Census!
