Thomas Waghorn
« on: Wednesday 25 March 15 19:05 GMT (UK) »
I am helping a friend with some of his research, he does not have a pc.  We are trying to find Thomas Frederick Waghorn born 1904 in Chatham Kent UK.  He arrived in New York in 1923, and according to records was naturalised in 1943, died in 1973.  The US 1940 census has him living in New York with wife Irene (b. abt 1910 England).  We have found an index only record of his marriage 7th Sept 1936 in New York, the name of his bride isn't given.  Is there any way we could find this information?  We have looked on family search New York marriages to no avail.
Thanks

On www.fultonhistory.com, there is an obituary for Mrs. Eileen Irene Waghorn who died at age 40 in Manhattan on 5 Sep. 1949.  It says she was a native of England, came to Astoria 25 years ago, and was survived by husband Thomas F. Waghorn and mother Mrs. Emma Wilson.

If you wanted the marriage certificate, you could order it as explained here - http://www.cityclerk.nyc.gov/html/marriage/records.shtml

On the brides' index on www.italiangen.org, there is an entry for Ellen Wilson who married 7 Sep. 1936 in Queens.  The certificate number is given as 4017, which connects her to a different groom, but the certificate # under Thomas Waghorn's entry on the grooms' index was 4107.  I suspect the number was mistranscribed.
