Welcome to RootsChat! ;D

Using FreeBMD, I can see 10 births of Carrott, with a mother's maiden name of Bradley, between 1930 and 1954. All in Lincoln Registration District.

This looks to be Albert's marriage?

June qtr 1929
Newark district     vol 7b, page 1049

Carrott, Albert H
Bradley, May

Unfortunately, there are 4 possible births for Albert, although this one looks more likely?

March qtr 1910
Lincoln district     vol 7a, page 503

Carrott, Albert

Albert's marriage certificate will give his father's name - and you can then check this against the 1911 census?

Death, March qtr 1978
Lincoln district     vol 7, page 1974

Carrott, Albert Hurst
Birth: 29th January 1909

Christening:
22nd JanuaryDecember 1910 at Scothern, Lincoln
Birth, 30th January 1910
Albert Hurst Carrott  son of Arthur William Hurst Carrott and Eliza

It's not unusual for the dates of birth to be a bit out on the death certificate!
It depends whether the informant knew?!

The family are down as Hurst on the 1911 census! ;D

I've been doing some research on a Facebook post.

There was a George H H CARROTT who married in 1892 to Charlotte APPLEBY.  They appear as HURST in 1911 too.  Both of these HURST/CARROTTs were born in Stainton le Vale so I expect they were brothers. (not checked)

Apparently, someone had found he joined the army in Newark in 1928.

NOTE: Date of bap was actually 22 Dec 1910
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

:)

The HURST name appeared to be derived from variable spelling of HEWIS HUIST over the years as this was the baptism of Albert's grandfather (3rd on the left)

Not what I was expecting ;)

Spilsby Petty Sessions 26 April 1847
"An order in bastardy was, on the application of Maria CARROTT, made on John LANCASTER, of West Keal, for the payment of 1s per week towards the maintenance of her bastard child."

From http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/LIN/bastardy_1847.html

EDIT:  Maria CARROTT's father, Richard CARRIT married Mary HEWIT at Stickford 24 Oct 1814

That marriage is here (top right) http://www.lincstothepast.com/Records/RecordDisplayTranscript.aspx?oid=629818&iid=286906

Did you say you had his marriage certificate for Father's name?
