roots ireland records query
« on: Thursday 26 March 15 22:00 GMT (UK) »
Hello

Looking at the roots ireland website, the records only go as recent as 1920. I was wondering why is that? Will the date be extended into more recent times?

Is this due to waiting for 100 years to lapse?

thanks

Sorry I do not know the answer to your question, but the Civil Reg records for Republic of Ireland are available free on this link to 1958.

If 100 years was the cut-off limit then the records would only go to 1914 not 1920.

Most of the records on Rootsireland would have been transcribed during the 1980s/90s, so they probably chose a 70 year cut off.  Most of what I've seen only goes to about 1910 in fact.

If you did follow up by asking Rootsireland if they intend to add new records for later periods, please let us know what the answer was.  I haven't heard of them replying to queries at all.
