There is another Harrison/Cottingham birth, but in 1921, so Joseph would not be the oldest, and lacking 2 brothers.

There might be no equivalent marriage if the wife is a widow.

Joseph deaths in Lincolnshire before 1932:

Deaths December quarter 1923
Harrison    Joseph    0    Doncaster

Deaths June quarter 1924
Harrison    Joseph E    0    Holbeach

Deaths March quarter  1926
Harrison    Joseph    2    Lincoln

I was expecting a death closer to 1932 - when was your grandmother's first born?

That's not him as I then did a marriage search for the mothers maiden name and found she married an Arthur Harrison. However I did find a marriage entry for a Bertie G Harrison in March 1928 (we know he married after 1923 due to his service record) to a Dorothy James in Boston. Its possible that this could be him. Trouble is as I don't know who his father was any marriage certificate wouldn't be of any use unless of course he put my grandfather Joseph down as his father.

These are the deaths I also found. My Uncle Joe was born in 1932. I'm not sure how old the little Joe was when he was hit with a golf ball.....I seem to remember an age of 8 but I could be wrong on that - will double check all this when I go back to Lincolnshire on Wednesday.

Can definitely rule this one out.....found the marriage and its to an Arthur plus there were no children on his RAF Service Record and Joe was definitely the oldest child.

Hello,
Do you have any update on what you may have found recently? Having read the thread I thought it was worth sharing that my Harrison ancestors were living in Caythorpe, the next village along from fulbeck, they also lived in Lincoln and in Cottesmore for a short period which is an RAF base close to Cranwell. I can not see any Bert in my Harrison family tree but I know that I don' t yet have all brothers/sisters on some of the lines in my tree. I have them back to 1720 coming from the wragby area of Lincoln. There could be some link somewhere along the line.
Lincolnshire: Harrison, Russell, Bates, Beecham, Ulyatt, Middlebrook
Cumberland: Flinn, Johnston, Sloan
Northumberland: Pilgrim, Archbold, Brewis, Bewick, Scott

* sorry Waddington, not Cottesmore as I had said. My family lived in waddington around 1820's. In between Lincoln and Wragby from 1840s until 1875 before staying in Lincoln from 1875. My grandfather and great grandfather lived in Caythorpe in the 1920's/30's. If you find anymore names let me know if you wish to as I may have a match.

Hi

I haven't actually found any more information out about Bert - seem to have drawn a blank on his whereabouts after he left the RAF. My dad vaguely remembers him attending his mother's funeral but not a lot else.

As far as Bert's ancestors go he was the illegitimate son of Ann Eliza Harrison. Bert was born in Lincoln in 1897 (I wonder if this was in a mother and baby home?). Ann originates from Broadholme in Nottinghamshire and is the daughter of Henry Harrison (1816) and a Hannah. Henry had a previous wife Mary with other children too. She had siblings....Martha, Henry, Charles, Hannah, Thomas, Sarah. Henry's parents were William Harrison and Hannah. No dates for these.

So that's all I know. Look forward to hearing from you.
