Thank you for this valued information.
Would love to find where any of the family were buried. Some relatives are visiting Newport at the start of April and would be good to visit a cemetery, where they could see a headstone, or get copies of the burials. As always the help you get from researchers makes everything possible, as shown with this subject.

A bit of family colour - Monmouthshire Merlin 29 Sept 1882

UNFRATERNAL BEHAVIOUR. Mathew Johns, stated to be a boiler maker, was charged with being drunk and disorderly and assaulting his brother, Llewellyn Johns, grocer, Commercial Road. On Sunday morning P.C. Smith, was on duty in Commercial-rood, and the prisoner was given into custody by his brother. Mathew was then very drunk, and was making use of very bad language towards the prosecutor. The latter, who had received a severe blow in the eye, stated that the prisoner was addicted to drink, and whilst he was under its influence he behaved very wildly. He (witness) did not desire to press the charge, but wished for a guarantee that his brother would not annoy him in the future. The prisoner, who expressed regret for his conduct, was bound over to keep the peace for six months.
