Wolverhampton iron works, Edward Park?
« on: Sunday 29 March 15 13:04 BST (UK) »
Hello... I have an Edward Park born c 1781 (possibly Wolverhampton) ...who in one census is listed as occ: gentleman and elsewhere as ' Iron Master'

I was wondering (along with who he was and trying to find him} i was wondering if anyone knew what.. Iron works he was master of?

Also....

Was an iron master....the actual owner of an iron works? Or just master..as in, just the one in charge of its running?

Hi, a bit of info here on ironmasters, it looks like he would be manager and most likely the owner too.

Hmmm,
I think probably the wrong date was transcribed for the newspaper,  Cumberland Paquet 22nd Jan 1833
"Lately at Force Forge near Hawkshead Lancashire, Mary eldest daughter of Mr Edward Parks in the 31st year of her age, highly esteemed and lamented"
Edward, Sarah and Isabella appear on the 1841 census in Staffordshire.
There is also an Edward Parkes, former ironmaster,  (later to become a Sir and MP) who died in Birmingham aged 71 in 1919.
