Alexander Scott Park North Shields
« on: Sunday 29 March 15 16:09 BST (UK) »
Hello everybody, I have been learning about one of my relatives who was a Surgeon at North Shields, a certain Alexander Scott. He lived at 29 Dockwray Square, North Shields and died there in 1878 aged just 36 or there abouts, widowing his wife possibly less than a year after they were married. I notice there is an Alexander Scott Park at North Shields and wondered what the history of the Park was and if there is a connection.

Hi Philip

I'm sure that I've read on here that North Shields library has a good local history section.  It might be worth getting in touch with them.

Hi,

The local studies section of North Shields should be able to give you some background on Alexander Scott Park (known as 'Scott's Park' locally).  Email address is:  discover@northtynesde.gov.uk

There is an Alexander Scott mentioned twice in here, he was born, I think, in 1840 and was headmaster of Westoe school in 1890 or thereabouts:

Probably quite a few men called Alexander Scott in the area.
