Maysie's missing !
« on: Tuesday 31 March 15 13:23 BST (UK) »
I'm hoping that someone can help ,please. My Dad's Auntie Mary Meredith nee Burrows born Garway 1860 (married to Joseph b.Skenfrith 1850's) had a daughter called Maysie M born Grosmont Herefordshire ~1882-so says the 1891 Census anyway
I've been trying to find her birth and death (and indeed anything in between) as she disappears off of the map after 1891.I can't find a marriage or a death for her.
What is Maysie short for or what is it derived from?
Many thanks

Maysie or Maisie which is the more common spelling.  A name in it's own right

Grosmont came under the Hereford Registration district.  Freebmd has 1881 births for a Kezzia and an Elizabeth Maria

There is a birth for a Mary Meredith July --Sep Hereford 1882

But there is also a death for a Mary Meredith in the same year, quarter and reg district so I don't think that this is the right one.

Kezzia also has a birth and death in the same year and quarter, so she can be ruled out.

Maysie/Maisie is said to be a pet form of Mairead, a Gaelic form of Margaret.
