John Buchanan farmer b 1748 Ewes [?] d 1837 Middlebie
« on: Tuesday 31 March 15 17:05 BST (UK) »
Hoping to find leads for the parents of John Buchanan b 1748 maybe in Ewes - he married Elizabeth Jackson  the family farmed at Middlebie . John died at Middlebie 6th Feb 1837, Elizabeth d 14 June 1792, both buried at Middlebie
His son John Buchanan b 1784 is recorded as born Ewes on the 1841 census and his family were on the same farm at Setthorns Middlebie.
Another son Gavin died 1790 age 2 years, their daughter Christian Buchanan d 6th Sept 1812 age 22 yrs.
at present not found the d record for either Gavin nor Christian.
Would appreciate any comments /suggestions .

Yes when I looked into the IGI for Dumfries the only Ewes is in the Langholm area, also the entry for John Buchanan the son is recorded as b Ewes in1784. My assumption being the father John Buchanan would have moved after he married Eliz Jackson to Middlebie.
