Looking for SARAH TWITE
« on: Wednesday 01 April 15 18:18 BST (UK) »
Hello

My 2 x great aunt Sarah Twite was baptised at Grimston in 1833. She was a daughter of Anthony Twite and Elizabeth (late Cooper).

I have Sarah in the 1841 and 1851 census. In 1851 she is working as a servant at the Black Horse public house at nearby Castle Rising under the surname of Twaite.

I have failed to find her in any later census. She may well have married or perhaps died before 1861 but nothing is turning up.

Thank you for reading this.  :)

Have you already ruled out the 1856 marriage - surname Twite so correctly spelt but FS shows father as Thomas

Thank you all for your help and interest so far.  :)

I notice Sarah Grint (Twite) on the Familysearch index for the 1861 census was born in 1822 in Little Hale and living in Mileham. I have a Sarah Twite, on another branch of the family, born in Tittleshall (Little Hale?) in 1822. She did have a father named Thomas so I had discounted the Grint marriage for the time being.

As Anc. have a Easter weekend special on at the moment I have been doing a bit of searching and have found a marriage for Sarah Twite very close to her last address of Castle Rising.

Marriage 31st of January 1861, King's Lynn.
She is down as Sarah Anne Twaits aged 26 years father Anthony Twaits.
He husband was Robert Morris aged 28 years with a father William Morris.

In the 1871 census return for Wisbech at the New Bell Inn on the Nene Quay
Robert Morris is 39 years old, an innkeeper, born at Wisbech.
Sarah A. Morris is 38 years old, born at Grimston.
Also with them Sarah A. Bagg niece, 20 years old, domestic servant, born at Grimston. (Sarah Twite/Twait's sister married a Mr. Bugg).

I have looked for Sarah Morris in the 1861 census but nothing so far.
Robert Morris, married, in 1861 appears to be on board a vessel named "Planet", working as a seaman, moored off Scarborough.

In the 1881 census again no Sarah Morris.
Robert Morris, married, a publican, is lodging in Whitby Street in Wisbech.

I cannot find either of them in the 1891 or later census.

If anyone comes across Sarah Morris in the 1861, 1881 or later census I would be very grateful.

 :)
