Duffy Family Keady
« on: Thursday 02 April 15 17:35 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for marriage certificates or census records for twin sisters Catherine and Mary Ellen (Minnie) duffy. Born to Francis and Elizabeth Duffy (nee Hughes).

I can find the girls living with their Father in 1901 at a Boarding House 2 Main Street in Keady. But can't find any trace of the girls after that.

Hi Motherwell

Thanks for the reply but that Catherine duffy was daughter of John duffy the postman. The Catherine duffy I'm looking for was a daughter of Francis duffy and they had some sort of boarding house in keady.

Catherine Duffy is obviously a common name but familysearch has the marriage of a Catherine Duffy in 1912 registered in Armagh:

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FY66-12C

A further search for this on:

https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/

shows that this Catherine married John Kennedy on 1st April 1912.  It costs £2 to view the full record or as an alternative, 4 euro to get a copy record from Roscommon.  No guarantee that it is the correct one.

Using the same process for Minnie brings up the record already quoted by Kingskerswell for the marriage of Minnie Duffy to Thomas Ward.

In 1901 the father and twin daughters were living Main St., Keady. From browsing the online 1911 census it looks as though Main St. may be missing (some were missing when originally microfilmed and these don't appear online yet).

Are you sure both girls, or even either, married? Who was the informant on father's death certificate? (might provide clues such as a married name or not)

Hi aghadowey

No definite on whether or not they were married.

So do you think there are records for main street in1911 and they just haven't been put up or do you think they could have been destroyed? Was there still a main street in 1911? How would I find out for definite?

I haven't been able to get a death cert for Francis either.

There certainly was a Main St. in Keady in 1910-
http://www.lennonwylie.co.uk/BSD1910.htm

A number of townlands/streets do not appear in the online census for 1091 and 1911, mostly due to their never having been microfilmed, and thus never digitised. This is being remedied, and the missing material will be placed online as soon as possible. A list of the missing material will shortly appear on this page.
The records for some streets and townlands have never been in the custody of the National Archives, and these will be clealy indicated.

Just a suggestion - Main Street in Keady is also known as Kinelowen Street - so you might try that address
