The England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966 database at Ancestry has an entry for David Rees. As you can see, Thomas Edgar Rees is listed in the entry. If he did come to Canada, he returned to Wales prior to 1957.

Possibly, but he may still have been in Canada as that only means he is the executor of the will. My brother, who lives in Canada , is one of my executors. It might be worth getting the will as it could give an address.

Sorry forget that, it only says administration, that means there wasn't a will.
True. In this case Thomas had a number of siblings who still lived in Maesteg. I would think one of them would have applied for administration of the estate if he were in Canada.
