I don't think it's a trancription error-she seems to be there from 1968 to 1980. Gertrude was at the same addy in 1968 and 1972.

So at some point between 1963 and 1968 her surname changes. If it's by marriage her husband isn't listed as being with her in any of the electoral records.

Again, many thanks for your input groom, and thanks for joining in Maureen!

I've now found the files you're both referencing and have tracked (*) Klesel until 1980. I do hope the trail doesn't run out at this point............

Very odd that there's a change of name without a marriage? At one point I did wonder if the name had been Anglicised (at the time of WW1) but since then I've traced the line back to 1800, so that can't be the case!

I think this may now be the problem - no recent records

Doubtless you guys have noticed that there is just one family by the name of Klesel in Victoria at the same time?

Gunter Karl Klesel & Theresa Helen Klesel of Melbourne Ports / Higinbotham / Isaacs in Victoria.

Surely there must be a connection?

Yes, noticed that. They seem to be a couple as they are at the same address and must be over 21 to be on the electoral role.

Just a gentle reminder about copyright.  We are asked to please transcribe information from other websites not attach information.

I suggest you remove the daughter's name as she may be living.

Marriage registrations are only available to 1942 in Victoria.

It is possible that their dau was the informant on Gertrude's death certificate and my best step would be to purchase an image online AUD$21 which you can immediately download.

Neither of them had a will probated in Victoria.

There are no Klesel or Disdel names that show up on the Ryerson Index of death notices or Obituaries so it must be assumed that the people are still alive. There does not appear to be any marriage on the Victorian BMD?
