His father was Charles G  c1896 (actually born in Hamworthy) ..... he can be seen in the Lytchett Minster, Poole area in 1911 and earlier.

In turn, Charles' Father was William G Heckford c1865 - a Brick Burner by trade - married to a Mary

Marriages Mar 1885

Chaffey  Mary Ann    Poole  5a 409
Drake  Louisa Augusta     Poole  5a 409
Gale  John     Poole  5a 409
HECKFORD  William George     Poole  5a 409

You should be able to work back from there !

Good luck with your research on both lines of his family back into the 19th C !

There is one child from that marriage, born 1949 so probably still alive. You can find their name on Freebmd. Just put in Heckford and the mother's maiden name.

Your Uncle was my Great Uncle, Charlie and Florence (nee Livermore) Heckford were my Great Grandparents and I was lucky enough to know them well, they lived in Hamorthy and there is still family there.

Hi Mrs Bingo. I'm not sure if I can help in anyway but my parents grew up in Gillingham, Dorset. I have just been talking to them and they knew a family of Heckfords that lived in the town. A lot of people that lived there had associations with the brick works.
