Thomas Fry (can't find him prior to 1861)
« on: Tuesday 07 April 15 20:08 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for my GGX3 (or so) Grandfather Thomas Fry.  I have him on the UK 1881, 1871, and 1861 Census' listed as being born between 1814-1816 (it's different on each census) in Port Issac, Cornwall.  He was a Mariner, and was married to a Jane Strick Arthur (although I don't have a marriage date)  I can't find him anytime prior to 1861.  Does anyone have any ideas?

That would make sense!  I've also been unable to find a birth record though..hopefully he wasn't at sea then!  ;)

The marriage certificate should give his fathers name & occupation

Parish records for Port Isaac, Cornwall came under St. Endellion, Cornwall at that time.

This would seem to be his baptism (on FreeReg):

Thomas Fry bp.17/7/1814 St. Endellion, son of Thomas Fry (mariner) and Ann of Port Isaac.
