Can you give the names so we can see where the cottage is in the census? This will help to get the location.

You  can also see it on this larger scale map https://www.old-maps.co.uk/#/Map/421315/536070/12/100615 you will have to zoom out.

Thankyou all so much, why I never thought to look for maps is beyond me,My Grandmother Ellen Stelling was born there,my Gt Grandfather was Mark Stelling, why is the cottage so named when its on the Bp Auckland branch line, strangely enough I was brought up in Oakenshaw which is only a stones throw away,my parents used to walk through the colliery and past the White House, over Jubilee Bridge and on to Byers Green where my Gran lived later and where my Dad was born.

Dad never mentioned when passing close by about the whereabouts of the cottage, maybe it ha disappeared by then, thankyou again.

Does anyone know where Prospect House in Byers Green was,I can't find it anywhere, have googled and gone googling eyed trying to trace it,My Dad Matthew Wigham born 1930 lived there with his parents John ( known as Jack) Wigham and Ellen Stelling, siblings,John George,James William,Richard,Isabella,Doris,Ada and Elizabeth Ann,known as Lizanna, she had downs syndrome bless her.by the time I came along my Granda Wigham had died and my Grandma lived in a bungalow in Byers Green.

I don't know what you mean, you can't delete someone else's post, it will still appear on this topic.
