Benjamin Francis Lye
« on: Wednesday 08 April 15 15:44 BST (UK) »
Benjamin Francis Lye was born in 1814 in St Pancras & he became a musician constantly travelling the country. His son John also became a travelling musician too.
Unfortunately, this is all that I know of Benjamin Lye & I wondered if anyone might be able to point me in the right direction so that I can find out exactly where his musical talents lay. His census entries only state "musician" but I would love to know what instrument he played or if he was part of a band etc.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you.

This link doesn't say what instrument he played but shows that he married twice and ended up in Gloucestershire.

Again this one doesn't say what instrument he played just that he constantly travelled but favoured Gloucestershire, does say he died 1900 though.

etma is the English Traditional Music Archive so I wonder if he was a fiddle player.

Again, that's great  ~  thank you so much.
I never fail to be amazed by what old records can be found still in existence. It's wonderful isn't it!
