Hi All

I am supremely grateful for all the work you have put into helping me in this endeavour. Truly brilliant efforts!!! As usual, I am super impressed.

I went onto Scotlands People and found the death certificate for the James Wilkie married to an Ann Beaton, for 1891. He is said to have been a General Labourer and aged 63 which means he would have been born in 1828. Not to far out from my original estimate. His marriage certificate mentioned by a previous poster would have put him at 1823, so the age seems to be a bit off (perhaps his son didn't know his age?). His parents are *drumroll* ISABELLA MARSHALL and WILLIAM WILKIE, a Weaver. His son, the witness, is John wilkie.

It all appears to fit with the meticulous research of previous posters. Would do you you think?

 :)

Difficult to be sure it was him. Sometimes it says "married to .....and 2nd........". But if it didn't in this instance then no definite proof. My instinct is to say it is.
