the previous generations of Timothys would appear to have been Aberduar Baptist Church in Llanybydder

http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ukwales2/HelpPagepearlsCarmarthen3.html
mentions one Timothy baptising a younger one in 1775, baptism would have been when the person was 15 or older

http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/CMN/Llanybydder/Aberduar.html

Llanybydder parish was next to Pencarreg. The 1808 marriage was by Licence & shows Timothy as of Pencarreg.

Timothy III died 19 March 1870 I think. There's a long obituary on the Welsh newspapers site, beyond my limited Welsh.

Thanks Mabel. Excuse my ignorance, but is Seren Cymru a Welsh publication?

Osprey - is the suggestion that Anne's surname was also Thomas or that her maiden name was not recorded?
*
I think the questions I raised in my original post have been answered. Thank you.
I shall pose more specific questions when I am back in front of my PC. Even my iPad isn't big enough for my liking.

Her surname was also Thomas. Both signed the register.

I have a THOMAS/JONES tree on Ancestry.com with info on the three Timothy Thomas reverend gentlemen, but not much about spouses. References to their wives as Mrs Thomas in Welsh Newspapers and elsewhere is not helpful. It was a man's world then, wasn't it.
I am directly related to Timothy Thomas I and his son John Thomas M.R.C.S., a surgeon.

think I may have found one of the marriages. I assume you have info from the Dictionary of Welsh Biography

http://yba.llgc.org.uk/en/s-THOM-TIM-1720.html

Timothy II married 'a native of Llanfynydd' & there is a marriage on FreeReg 8 July 1776 in Llanfynydd of Timothy Thomas Gentleman of Pencarreg & Mary Evans.

The biogs give dates & places if not names so there's something to search for, although the Pencarreg registers & BTs seem to have not survived well.

the daughter who married Rees Saunders looks to have been called Hannah. They married 14 July 1769 in Pencarreg, he was of Llanllwni.
