Shiel House
« on: Thursday 09 April 15 07:04 BST (UK) »
Hello from Australia,

Can someone please tell me if Shiel House is in Kintail or Glenshiel parish? On a map it looks like Glenshiel but I have found several references where an address in the 1800's is given as Shiel House, Kintail. My McRae's lived at Shiel House in 1816 (detail from a marriage record in Glenshiel) and possibly for a lot longer. Shipping records in 1838 say they were from Kintail.

Also does anyone know which MacRae family and their descendants lived in Shiel House and when and were any of the current buildings there in the early 1800's?

Thank you
AMH
