William Skelton seems to be the son of William Skelton and Catherine of Maryport, Cumberland, born 22 January 1887 and drafted into the US Army in 1917/1918, stating he has a wife and child and again in 1942 saying he was called William Joseph Skelton.

Just to clarify - all men of a certain age were required to fill out draft registration cards.  It does not mean that they were actually drafted or served in the military.  The men in most of the WWII draft registration cards currently available to the public were older and did not serve.
