Have confirmed via help from this site that there is an annotation on the records that James Levingstone 77th and James Livingstone 2/14 are one and the same. Finally discharged in 1857 I have still been unable to ascertain how James came to Australia. First record is in 1862 of a child born in County Westmoreland near Oberon NSW and his subsequent marriage to Mary/Madge (later confirmed it was their second child) Gallagher at Stoney Creek in the same area in 1863.

I have been unable to find any record of the birth of their first child Michael Levingstone. His name appears on the birth certificate of their third child.

Still hoping.

Levingstone married Mary/Madge/Magy Gallagher from DOnegal (Relief Fund)

Dear 'Rathmore"

Many thanks I do have her details - there were a number of Mary/Magy Gallaghers on the Sapphire - the parents of 'ours' ( from 'Cloneely') Cloughaneely Co Donegal  were Susan  and Hugh (deceased) the latter confirmed from her death certificate.

Her sister Catherine and cousin Sarah (daughter of Patrick and Sarah) also Cloughaneely arrived on the Lady Elma Bruce.

Although later information said they were married at Windsor in 1861, they were actually married in Oberon area in 1863 when they already had two children. So the years between 1859 and 1862 are a mystery for both - could never find any evidence of either of them being in Windsor.

Regards

THanks
