Family Search/LDS is excellent for Scotland...but remember that official registration in Scotland did not start until after 1855 (England and Wales were much earlier, from mid 1837 onwards). Only about a third of events in Scotland were registered in the Old Parish Registers (OPRs) pre 1855 for all sorts of reasons...

Tough research here Sylvia, particularly as she showed as a foundling in her marriage entry (from what you mentioned). Really means there was no knowledge about her ancestry at all  :-\
