Romanies in Wolverhampton?
« on: Tuesday 14 April 15 22:29 BST (UK) »
Hi!

This may seem like quite a specific area, but I've been told that part of my family are from the Price family from Pembrokeshire, who lived in a campsite on the old stafford road in Bushbury, Wolverhampton.
I've been trying to find out more about the Romany in the Wolverhampton area (particulary the Heath Town area) during the 18th and 19th century.
There has always been quite a dominant dark streak throughout many members of family and now some old family stories have come to light saying of how the family has a proud Romany heritage.

The family names linked to the Romany at the time were Price (although I have yet to find a direct link and its a family story) and the Harpers.
Any info on the familys or romany culture/origins in the area at the time would be appreaciated

thanks in advance

Joel

I met a young man in Swansea in 1967 his name John Price from a romany family

But lived mainly in Pembroke Dock

But i have not seen him for over 40 years
