Hi Annierose,

Welcome to RootsChat :)

I am very sorry but you have replied to a member that sadly we have lost contact with, it is likely that they have changed email address but we do not know what this is.

If it is OK with you I can separate your reply to make a "new topic" hopefully you will then be able to find out more about your Great Grandfather.

Regards

Sarah :)

Hi Annie,

I have now split your topic.

What do you already know about your Jinnette family? (ages/addresses etc)

Have you managed to find them in the census returns ?

Regards

Sarah :)

Was Herbert Henry Jinnette born in Buln buln, Australia?

because in the

Warragul Guardian and Buln Buln and Narracan Shire Advocate (Warragul, Vic. : 1879 - 1894)

"William Jinnette, was on a certain day strolling along the bank of the creek he saw a dark material which he thought bore a strong resemblance to coal. Born and brought up at Coal Island, Ireland, where the "black diamond" had been worked for years" - 1890

http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/70811582?searchTerm=Jinnette%20ireland&searchLimits=

Coal Island is a small town in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

David Jinnette was born in 1883, so William was in Australia before that date.

Hi everyone,
My name is Chantelle Commisso I'm the Great granddaughter of Herbert Henry Jinnette and to the Grand daughter of John William Jinnette. My mother was John's daughter Donna Kathleen Commisso nee Jinnette who passed away in 1986 aged 25.
I think I might be able to help you out with some information that you are after our family in terms of dates of when they were born/died.
William James Jinnette born abt1838 died 1922, and as for John William Jinnette born 1912 and pop died 2003.
I hope this helps, in regards to Herbert Henry Jinnette he was 29 he died over there in Gallipoli in 1915 so that would make his date of birth abt 1886, and with the others I'm still researching the other brothers for further information.
As soon as I know anymore I'll let you know but I hope this information has helped you in some way.
