1881 census
« on: Friday 17 April 15 20:38 BST (UK) »
Hi all, does any body have any idea what this small word or abbreviation is after the age of Lizzie Clayton on this clip of 1881 census, it is 7 and a squigell. i have browsed on through these pages and she is not the only one with this after the age but its still not any clearer.

Kind Regards, Graham Martin.

I' d have also said months as I've seen that sort of thing on some of mine. If you have a look at some near entries on the same census, you might see it occurring again.

I feel sorry for the entry above Lizzie too - it says ' deserted child '  :(

I would also say months. To confirm have a look at the next census and see if she is aged about 10, then you can conclude that she was under a year old on this one.

Hi,

If you look at the link below it will explain about a 'nurse child'
