The Reverend Thomas Rees of Mount & Verwick. When did he die?
« on: Saturday 18 April 15 00:40 BST (UK) »
"WILLIAMS.—REES.—On the 28th ult. (28th June 1864), at Pontfaen Church, Pembrokeshire, by the Rev. Ll. LI. Thomas, rector of Newport, uncle of the bride, assisted by the Rev. R. Williams, rector of Vaynor, Breconshire, father of the bridegroom, the Rev. Rees Williams, Master of the Cardigan Grammar School, to Elizabeth daughter of the late Rev. Thomas Rees, Incumbent of Mount and Verwick, Cardiganshire."
     - from the Welshman 1st July 1864
*
The Rev Thomas Rees married Hester Eleanora Thomas on 4th January 1830. I have census records from 1841 and 1851 with Thomas and Hester together. However in the 1861 Census, Hester is living only with her daughter. She is still apparently married.
*
Thomas Rees appears to be living alone as a lodger and Vicar of Verwick (?) church.
*
So ... when exactly did he die between 1861 and July 1864?

Have you checked FreeBMD for Deaths?
There are about 10 in Cardiganshire 1861-1864
That is if he was still there then!

FreeREG also has in Cardiganshire;
1862 age 64
1863 age 78
1863 age 56
1864 age 61

You can also check Familysearch.Org as a few have ages.

My favorite would be the 1864 age 61 entry on FreeREG; Buried 20 May, Parish Church, Cardigan.
He is living Cardigan Reg District 1861 Census and there is  a Death Reg Hune 1864 Cardigan on FreeBMD.

Thanks Trish.
I did check FreeBMD deaths and came up with a few options and I went through Welsh Newspapers for that time span, but found nothing.  :-\

I agree that the May 1864 death looks reasonable. I wonder if anybody on RootsChat has more details?

This was from the original on a certain pay to view site, that does not begin with A!

PS his age is definitely shown as 62 not 61?

Yes. 48 and 58 respectively in the 1851 and 1861 Census records, so close enough.
