« on: Saturday 18 April 15 18:03 BST (UK) »
Hi -I'm new on Rootschat, Saw my grandad's names for the first time today!
    JAMES DANIEL BUCKLEY
    • He died in South Africa (date unknown)
      • Married Emily Jane Heath on Dec 30, 1901, in South Africa aged 26
        • Deduced he was born in 1875
          • I was told he came from County Kerry.

CAN SOMEONE P-L-E-A-S-E HELP ME FIND MY IRISH ROOTS?  My mum sang "Galway bay" as my lullaby.
            thank you - Billiboy

I am amazed at your kindness. Thank you. Realised JD was my GREAT granddad.
I was told he owned or ran an hotel in East London, E.Cape, South Africa. Apparently lost it through gambeling, then owned or worked at one in Kimberley. Not sure this was true.
On the marriage certificate his occupation was "miner", he was 26.
The only signatures were an Edawardes and Alice Heath, who may have been the bride's mum.

Hi again if the above service record is your James D just wondering why in the notes it mentions also initials " J W"
A copy of his full record would give more information?

Hi again, other than the witnesses does the marriage certificate not give any indication of his father and his occupation?
