Hi everyone
I am wondering if anyone visits the National Archives Office in Scotland?  I would like to get copies/photographs of a prison record.  The reference is
Perth (General) Prison 1846-1913 HH21/47/1-8, HH21/48/1-5

The website information says that they will not do searches for un-indexed names. 
I am looking for James MOUNTAIN.  He was sent from Monmouthshire to Perth Prison on 28 September 1853 and remained there until 15 February 1855 when he was sent to Porsmouth Prison, England. 

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it and naturally am happy to return the favour in Auckland, New Zealand if I can.

Yes, that should be fine although if you have more it could help. The catalogue is down so I can't check here. Was it a High Court trial?

Yes I tried to search the catalogue as well.  I will pm you all the information I have in the next couple of days if that is ok.  Bit late over here in NZ at the moment !!

Bad news I'm afraid Melanie.

I was in on Monday and when I looked at the catalogue it seems there are no registers for the date you need! There is a lunatic register (quite interesting - it has photos) but not what you need.

I was so disappointed. If you send me what other information you have I can see if I can suggest any other records.
