Whitticase,Eward and Ann
« on: Thursday 23 April 15 01:30 BST (UK) »
I'm working on the Whitticase family, mostly from Montgomeryshire Wales. I know that Edward Whitticase born in about 1798 in Lianuthelion,Montgomeryshire, Wales. Weston Maddock,Churchstoke. His wife Ann states that she was born about 1802 in Tregynon,Montgomeryshire, Wales Weston Maddock Churchstoke. This I got from the 1861 Wales Census. There are so many Ann's and Edwards. I cannot find her maiden name, or her birth, so I can't go back any further. I have searched in NLW, and joined My Heritage and belong to Ancestry.com. I t seems I have found the most help here. A few weeks ago I was only able to get back 3 generations and received great help from here and another request fro Ancestry. They have two children. I want to look at the births, and parishes, but I seem to have a problem getting to those places. I am from the USA and don't really understand all the different names in Wales. Whitticase  has so many variants and as well as the Wales Census, some show up in the English Census. Basically I am at a standstill on the wife Ann.. Would be grateful for direction, where to go.
Thank You
Regards,
Linda

Good Afternoon
Not sure how much  i can help but here's what I have.

1851 Weston Madoc -Little Weston Cottage Parich of Church Stoke Montgomery
Edward Whitticase 53 ag lab Lllangthellon
Ann 49 Treganon
Margaret 11 Chirbury Shropshire
William 9 Montgomery Montgomeryshire.
They are indexed on Ancestry as Whittieearl so I wouldn't pay too much notice of the different spellings of the birth places for Edward and Ann.

1841 Montgomery
Edward 40 ag lab y
Ann 35 y
Jane 10 y
Elizabeth 6
Mary 4
Margaret 1

The girls Margaret and Mary are baptised over the border in Chirbury 13.10.1839 and 23.2.1837.

The only baptism I can find for any Ann at Tregynon for the right date is on Familysearch
Ann Williams 1.11.1801 to William Roberts and his wife Jane.
I assume that the Williams comes from the Welsh way of adding the fathers forename as a surname.
There marriage must be before 1831 and Jane seems to be with her brother in 1871 census  Edward Whitticase born Tregynon 1827.
I'd be looking for marriages there.

ps if Ann was a second wife or they married late there is a marriage for 1836 on Find My past but I don't have a subscription.

The 1836 marriage is to a Margaret Bumford, but there is a marriage in Tregynon  on 18 April 1823 of an Edward Whiticha?? (no image sadly) to an Anne Roberts (poss match to baptism Ciderdrinker found) -   bachelor and spinster - both of the parish.
