Sarah Casey left for Australia from Scotland
« on: Thursday 23 April 15 09:36 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

1856 my 3x great grandmother Elizabeth Casey applied for poor relief,
she states who her family are and list's Sarah Casey, born 1828 { as all 10 children were }
puts down Sarah is in Australia, if Sarah left just before 1856 would it be possible to
find out if she married before leaving for Australia, so little facts to give on Sarah,
her father was Bernard Casey, he had died 1856.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
Derek ;)

Hi Derek
Just did a quick search on SP there is only one marriage between 1840-1856 for Sarah Casey.

22/4/1850 Sarah Casey married James Gilmour. /FR187/ Kirkmabreck. Kirkcudbright.

Sure the expert will be along to really help you soon.

Ok I assumed Scotland. Let me repost info

There is a reference/obit of  a Sarah Gilmour wife of James Gilmour in the Maitland NSW area. She died in 1922 and the local paper wrote an OBIT.

What stopped me was her birth in Ireland and also a mention that she arrived with her parents as an infant.

Also James was listed as being born in 1856.

The dates didn't match so I edited the post.

Here is Sarahs. It stated she was 59 in 1922 which made her born in 1863. Hence I edited my post

;) yeah i think i follow now,my Sarah born Co Monaghan, 1828, Sarah's parents had left Ireland
during 1840 and settled in Glasgow, the only child not accounted for is Sarah, she must have left before 1856 but when ???
How do i prove if Sarah who married James Gilour 1850 is my Sarah or not ???
All the best.

:'( i can now discount Sarah Casey who married James Gilmour as my Sarah Casey,
this Sarah casey's father was Edward Casey, born 1807 Ireland.

My Sarah's father Bernard Casey.
Will i ever find my Sarah :'(

Just out of interest the Sarah who married James Gilmour can be found on the 1851 census
20, st Johns road, Kirkmabreck, living with Sarah's  father Edward.

1861 THIS James & Sarah are now living at 6 Mount Vernon, West Derby with 2 children,
cant find a link to Edward Casey born 1807 and my 3x great grandfather Bernard Casey.
All the best.
