Sweeney/McMurray

Hello,

I have been trying to find a marriage of George Sweeney and Mary McMurray, according to their childs birth cert in Scotland they married in Fermanagh in 1848, They were in Scotland by 1851.  The only parent that I have is Edward Sweeney who is George's father.

They had one son born in Ireland that I am aware of and that is Edward born in 1849

Any help would be great

A few tree's have February 1848 Fermanagh but no church mentioned ..Is it the parent's of this couple you are looking for .. Perhaps if you get their death on www.scotlandspeople.gov parent's names should be listed

I assume this was an RC marriage? If so, they weren't included in the Irish statutory registers till 1864. In which case, assuming you can find the parish, you'd need to rely on the church record. Unfortunately most RC marriage records from the mid 1800s don't contain parents names. All you usually get are the couples names, the date and their 2 witnesses names.
