Yes, I did wonder what a "prune station" was :-)

I got the RCE which said he was run over and killed by a train. Is a Fatal Accident Inquiry a different thing?

The newspaper article said he was killed after getting off a passenger train and had only arrived in the area the previous Saturday with his wife and family. So sad.

Coincidentally, when we visited Edinburgh in 2004 and 2007, our hotel was in Corstorphine :-)
