James Haig and Helen Higgins memorial plaque in Summerhouse
« on: Tuesday 28 April 15 23:03 BST (UK) »
Hi there

Help required please.  Does anyone know where this summerhouse is please?  It was located on a long walk in Clackmannanshire around 7 years ago by my nephew and his partner, and now cannot be found again.  They think it is near Dollar or Muckart.

The wall plaque is to the Haig family starting with James Haig and wife Helen Higgins.

Thank you very much in advance.  They are driving themselves mad trying to find it.

regards
Janice

Janice, still not clear on location of the memorial plaque, but this is some bios here http://archive.stjohns-edinburgh.org.uk/HaigJanet.html relating to second born Janet Callender (first must have died).

This monumental inscription ref showing here www.gravestonephotos.com/public/gravedetails.php?available=yes&fullname=Henry%20Haig%20Fell&grave=255964&personid=549878&db=255964&scrwidth=1600  Not clear that it is Clackmannanshire  :-\  Likely more that one, given the family's status.

Comparing the photo you have and the transcription from Gravestone site....different (but so much similar)  :-\ The stone/photo you have does seem to read differently. Without knowing the family history.... ::)

Dear Monica

Thank you so much for all your great detective work.  It is very much appreciated, and although, we haven't  found the summerhouse, the information you have given might lead us to it in the future.

Thank you again.  You're a star.

best wishes
Janice

Janice, I am sure in time someone will recognise it and give you the location. The only photos I could see online so far...were those with your nephew that you have posted. Doesn't help really!

Monica

PS: Your nephew is looking at the plaque on the left. What was on the plaque on the right?

Another line for you to try...

Why don't you email the Clackmannanshire Archives and ask whether they can help? I would think they will some detail on the Haig family that may help. See www.clacksweb.org.uk/culture/archiveprivatedeposits/

Hi Monica.

I think the plaque on the right has a continuation of what is on the left, but will check with them and let you know if it is not so.

Thanks for the suggestion of contacting Clackmannanshire Archives.  I have emailed them tonight, but will probably not hear anything for a while, due to the bank holiday.

I will let you know how we get on.  Thank you again.

best wishes
Janice
