Thanks stan  I have found www.gravestonephotos.com tonight which is very good which covers grangetown with some reference to my search and www.thesunderlandward which have most of sunderland cemetery's but not the grangetown cemetery

That is a burial index, the question was about M I's, which I assume, rightly or wrongly, means monumental inscriptions.

I have looked at the burial index, but Stan was correct I was looking for information from a possible gravestone

I am local to Sunderland Cemetery (Ryhope Road, Grangetown) I am willing to have a look and locate your memorial stone if you want to add the names you are looking for.

CLARK - Forebears - my great grandparents George Alexander CLARK (Mariner) born app 1879 Aberdeen married Sunderland 1904 to Florence Colvet BRADLEY b abt 1882 in Australia
KNAPP (Mariners) - ex of Kent moving to Seaham.
APPLEBY - Seaham Harbour (Children of Great x 2 Uncle John (boat owner) inc. Sir Alfred Appleby moved away).

JONES - Seaham Harbour Great Grandfather Thomas Emrys JONES b1868
