In the 1841 Census for Llanfihangel-ar-Arth at Tir wrth yr eglwys (land near the church) we have:
David Thomas, farmer, 62
his wife Margaret, 64
son John, 32
daughter Margaret 20
daughter Elinor Jones 34 (who I believe married John Jones, shoemaker of Lampeter in June 1833)
Elinor's son David Jones aged 4
*
This record is consistent with everything I know about Elinor and John Jones, my great great grandparents, who went on to live in Lampeter until 1878 and 1879.
*
What happened to David and Margaret Thomas? I found a Census record for Margaret in 1851 that could fit whereby she is a widow living with her daughter Margaret 30.
*
When were David and Margaret born? When did they marry? When did they die?
I appreciate any help.
Thanks
Richard PJ

Osprey to the rescue! Thanks very much.
They all seem to fit. I shall order the death certificates for David and Margaret from GRO.
*
I am guessing that they married somewhere about 1800-1806 since Elinor was born about 1807.

I found a christening record of interest for an Elinor Thomas at Pencarreg, Carms. on 19th April 1808 with father "Thos Dad" which could well be an abbreviation of Thomas, David.

Can anyone look up the original parish record (the above info is a transcription) please?
Thanks a bunch.

Thanks. We can ignore that one then.
Elinor died on 11th December 1878 with recorded age of 72, so we should be looking at a birth year of 1806.

the only Elinor I can see in Llanfihangel ar Arth was baptised 12 May 1805 daughter of Thomas David of Glynn.
There is a Mary dau of David Thomas of Gorslas baptised 16 Feb 1807 - another Mary baptised to this David 8 march 1811

Possible for John
John Thomas bp 8 Aug 1809 son of David Thomas of Blaincarnafan?

Gwenllian bp 20 April 1812 daughter of David Thomas of Llanfihangel Village

The records available online look to be the Bishops Transcripts. It may be worth trying to access the register instead.

Hmmmm. Nothing conclusive as your "undecided" face suggests.
*
I live in California and wouldn't be able to check any libraries or offices in person.
*
I'll see if anything else crops up. We have made some progress with Elinor's parents.
Thanks again for your time and expertise.
