Stephen Penry George
« on: Saturday 02 May 15 15:26 BST (UK) »
I used up the last of my Ancestry subscription three days ago and I wondered if members could please help locate Stephen Penry George in 1891 and 1901. He was killed during the Great War (1916, age 33, son of Stephen and Mary George, of Dyffryn, Velindre, Crymmych, Pembrokeshire).  Looking for back ground information and appreciate any details.

Regards, Roy

To keep you busy - Daniel George was one of 15, some of whom went over to Pennsylvania, according to an obituary of one of his siblings.

Also a sad snippet from Tyst, 15 Dec 1916 (rough translation)

Meline and district
....A number of boys from the paris have joined the army, and it is feared that the son of Mr. Stephen George, Dyffryn Benglog, has been killed. they haven't heard any news of him for weeks, and he used to write  regularly to his parents. There is much sympathy for them in their sadness

His photograph with message asking for information was posted in a List of Missing printed in the Daily Sketch 1st November 1916.  The snippet from Tyst, 15 Dec 1916 is a good find and makes interesting reading; SP George was killed in action 23 May 1916 (CWGC) and six months later it would appear the family was still waiting for news.
