Would this be the family you mean  in 1891 - RG12 Piece 1602 Folio 33 Page 15 - Old Brompton Road.  Melksham. Thomas would have been born a little earlier than 1847  ???

British Army WW1 Pension records have a Herbert William Sheppard born 1884 Chappel Kapp, Wiltshire and aged 19 years. Duke of Edinburgh's (Wilthsire) Regiment - Short Service Attestation.
He hadn't resided in his fathers house within the last 3 years. Occupation - Labourer. Single. Served in the Militia 3/Wilts Reg - Discharged by purchase.

5ft 6 1/4 inches - weight 154 ibs - 36" - 38" chest - fresh complexion, brown eyes, brown hair. Scar - tip of right 4 th finger.Church of England. Considered fit for army - dated 21 January 1903 - Devizes.

There is a possible death record for a Herbert William Sheppard born 1883 and who passed away December 1865 - aged 82 years - Trowbridge Wiltshire.

hello sandra, yes its my sheppards, thankyou, i thought it would have been james 1893 who would have joined the army, but thanks for the army info on herbert william 1884, i am actually chasing two sheppard lines , 1 is mine and the other is my sister, she married into a sheppard line, caused a laugh at church.

There is a marriage of George Shepherd at Clutton Somerset to Lydia Daisy Y Harris - Q2 - June 1908 5c 1123 which could be your George.

There was a birth at Clutton - January 1891 - Lydia Daisy Y Harris - 5c 550

Oops - sorry didn't see you there. Your very welcome - hope these little snippets help. I have noticed an ancestry tree showing census records for this family but using a different Elizabeth (York). They also describe George as George Richard Shepherd and that is incorrect.
