Postage Mark Completed
« on: Friday 08 May 15 10:43 BST (UK) »
Hi
I know this card was sent in 1916 as it's a 21st birthday postcard and I know it was sent to Ireland from somewhere in the UK but I don't know from where in the UK.
Unfortunately someone appears to have done a bit of stamp collecting and ripped most of the post mark away.
There isn't much to go on but has anyone any idea where it was posted, please.

Not sure if it is an R or an L after the B

I look forward to the resolution of this.

Meanwhile here is a link for you and others to a site which looks to be one that some may bookmark

Blundellsands maybe?  It's 6 miles NW of Liverpool.

Pure guess Brunswick Liverpool.

Mike

Added. Not sure now,  the two place names are the best clue, but if it was going to Ireland the most visible stamp may just be an "in transit" stamp, that is, applied at Liverpool before it was transferred to the boat.

If it helps anyone, the postmarks of this same style that I have checked have the town or postal district written clockwise and the county or city written anti-clockwise.

This could be it, it looks like a fairly good match on that site dgibbins02 linked to.

That could put an end to figuring out where she was........
Oh well

Maybe not I've had another look and I think the one we can see was applied first, with the least readable one on top.  If there was just one stamp on the card, stuck in the right place then the first strike may have missed the stamp and it's been overstruck to cancel the stamp.

I would go with Blundellsands, Liverpool.

The top bit looks like BL . . . . S.
And the bottom part looks like LI . . . . ?

Take a look at this example (sorry! It's on eBay!!):
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2455-BLUNDELLSANDS-LIVERPOOL-Squared-Circle-Postmark-Cohen-Type-2nd-I-CT-/161681180361?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item25a4f306c9
Garrad (Suffolk, Essex, Somerset), Crocker (Somerset), Vanstone (Devon, Jersey), Sims (Wiltshire), Bridger (Kent)
