Good morning:

It is not the best copy but I was hoping someone can help me determine what the last name on the attached document is.
Many thanks
Cheryl

Siesel?  The S is similar to the S in St (street presumably) in the next line. l and e similar to the two letters in male.

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe

I'll propose Christian John Sickel - but when and where does this record come from?

Thank you all for the replies.

It is a Form of Information of a Death which occurred in 1903 in South Africa - familysearch website.
I am hoping that it is my great grandfather Christian John Sickle.  The date of birth is correct, the home address is correct, but it only lists 5 children and it should be 7.
However, I can't convince myself that there is a "k".

If it was transcribed as "Siekel" I can see the "k".  Possibly just written as it sounded when spoken by the informant.

It's worth browsing other records in the dataset by the same writier to compare the questionable letters.
e.g. http://www.rootschat.com/links/01fah/ makes it seems very likely that middle two letters are 'ck'.
