1828 st michaels bristol marriage
« on: Monday 11 May 15 18:25 BST (UK) »
Hi there I would be so so grateful if anybody could help please

Ive done several posts in the past regarding my ancestor John Marshman of Bristol, my fourth great was born 1809 Bristol to john marshman and sarah murch , he married ann welsford in 1829 Bedminster and died aged 28 in 1836.

His parents im struggling with john marshman who I believe was the one born 1786 in Bristol (presuming) and sarah murch who married in 1807 Bristol. I cannot find anything else on them, but I did find this marriage on familysearch 31 august 1828 st michaels Bristol john marshman to mary powell, I was wondering if this is john marshman senior my fifth reat grandfather, perhaps he remarried and is stated as a widower?

many thanks

Hi,
I can confirm the marriage of John MARSHMAN to Mary POWELL at St Michael, Bristol, on 31st August 1828. I can't confirm that he is shown as a Widower, but there won't be any witnesses or an occupation recorded.
The records are held at Bristol Record Office under St Michael, Register 3e, Page 129, Number 385.
www.bristolmuseums.org.uk/bristol-record-office/
I don't live locally so I am not able to transcribe the marriage of William MARSHMAN & Ellenor DUNKIN.
This will give you witnesses & father's occupations.
Perhaps there is a RootsChatterer out there who can do a lookup for you.

Hi,
My reply concerning the marriage of John MARSHMAN & Mary POWELL was incorrect. The data was drawn from the Bath & Avon Family History Society (BAFHS), and I forgot that witnesses were first recorded from 1813. I gave you the Bristol Records Office (BRO) Register entry, plus their link, so you could request a lookup, failing a response from a fellow RootsChatterer.
Hope that makes it clear?
Victor
